Project 1: Value Popcorn Drawing
We can walk through life not noticing all the beauty around us. As artists, it is our job to NOTICE. You can walk down the street and notice the beauty in a mother in child by the side of the road, in the pattern the cracks in the sidewalk make, in the colorful architecture that surrounds you. Observing these small details of our environment is what makes life worth living. In "Value Popcorn Drawing" you will realistically draw 1, 2, or 3 pieces of popcorn from observation. This will be done realistically in pencil. With the help of your classmates, you will look at the shapes and forms from an aesthetic perspective. It will be your challenge to see and draw an object from those abstract forms in the popcorn.
